About
This site is not for everything. What it does, it does as well and as directly as it can.
Who built it
Photographers. Some of us do it for a living and some of us do not, which is the same set of people the site is for. Nobody here needed the idea explained to them.
Why it exists
Photography is everywhere now and the conversation about it is not. The old way of finding out whether a set held together was to put the prints on a table in front of someone who would tell you the truth about them. Those tables are harder to find every year. This is that process, put on a platform: the frames, people whose eye you trust, and a verdict on each one.
Both sides of it
We have sat on both sides of that table. Some of us have curated other people's work. Some of us have been the one whose work was being curated, waiting for the person opposite to say something useful. It is a hard step and a necessary one, and choosing what stays in is most of what makes a final selection.
What it will not do
It will not host your archive, sell your prints, or build you a following. It takes a set of photographs and tells you which of them work, either from people you invite or from a crit master you pay. That is the whole of it.
